Oasis of Hope Volunteer

Oasis of Hope Center is a safety-net, primary-care clinic for adults without health insurance. Our mission is to provide hope in Jesus' name through free medical care to the economically disadvantaged and uninsured of Grand Rapids, Michigan. We are staffed by volunteers who have a passion for helping those in need. We are currently in need of volunteer medical assistants and medical scribes to give of their time and expertise so that others may have the health care that they need and deserve.

     Available Volunteer Roles

  1. MA/CNA/EMT/etc.
(Take vital signs, collect brief medical history, assist medical provider with the patient appointment as needed)

  2. Medical Scribe
(A paraprofessional who specializes in charting physician-patient encounters in real-time during medical examinations)

General requirements for volunteering are:

  • Passion for underserved populations

  • Ten hours per month commitment (2 five-hour shifts)

  • Belief in Jesus Christ

  • CPR certification within 3 months of beginning volunteering

  • Volunteers need to be already trained and/or certified in their respective fields.

We have current openings on Mondays 2-5pm, Wednesdays 1-6pm and Saturdays 8am-1pm and are accepting volunteer applications at this time. If you are interested in applying for a volunteer position at Oasis of Hope Center, the first step would be to complete and return a volunteer application.  The next step is for us to check references.
